We want to thank you again for your donation and update you on the recent progress we’ve made on the project.
Thanks to your donations, over 12,500 people have been fed and tens of thousands of pounds of farm produce have been delivered. As weekly food deliveries and distribution continue, these numbers will only increase.
Right now, we have six thousand pounds of produce delivered once a week to our neighbors in need. This mix of onions, potatoes, peppers, apples and oranges are paired with non-perishables like oatmeal, beans, rice and more. Partnerships with local and regional Farm Bureaus and distributors are helping us to tap into locally sourced foods, eggs, NY apples, upstate potatoes, etc., providing an excellent value and a smaller carbon footprint.
While this progress is significant, the need continues to be real. On distribution days, families arrive by foot to stand in food lines that wrap around the block long before distribution even begins. Some report that they have not eaten for days.
Our non-profit partner East Side House has partnered with seven food pantries and community organizations including Healthy and Livable Hunts Point, ICNA Relief and Mexican-American Student Association which all serve the South Bronx.
We’re very grateful to the thousands of donors and volunteers who have helped propel this project to success. It’s incredible what we can do together.
